New Foundation Board Starts Work
NorthBay Health has started 2023 with an energized new board of directors dedicated to creating a culture of philanthropy in Solano County, according to Paul McGinty, President of NorthBay Health Foundation.
A core team of leaders — Dennis Landis, Al Shaw, Bill Fell and Scott Reynolds — helped “reimagine the future” during a pandemic hiatus, and are now joined by J. Peter Zopfi, D.O., Mark Villalon, M.D., Keyo Tocchini, Sandy Person and Konard Jones, President and CEO of NorthBay Health. All nine will serve three-year terms.
Ultimately, as many as 15 community and civic leaders will be invited to serve on the board, Paul noted. Additional positions will be added over the next two years, to avoid having all board members term out at the same time.
The board’s first tasks revolve around creating a strategic plan for philanthropy for the next three to five years, and to help support the Foundation’s current campaign to raise funds for the Heart & Vascular program.
Here’s the new board, at a glance:
Dennis Landis is chair of the Board. A retired Fairfield restaurateur, he has been a member for the past 21 years, and remained an active core member throughout its re-imagination phase.
Scott Reynolds is vice chair. He is managing partner of Reynolds Law and has been a Foundation board member since 2003. He also served on the committee of the Solano Wine, Brew & Food Jubilee for many years.
Bill Fell is treasurer. He is the former owner of Green Valley Ford and is currently in fleet and commercial sales for Fairfield Ford. He has been a board member since 1985, having served as chair for five years.
Al Shaw is secretary. He was past president and chairman of the board for the Hofmann Co., and has been a member of the Foundation board since 2009. Through the years he, and wife, Patt, have been long-time NorthBay Health supporters and in 2016 the couple donated $5 million to NorthBay. The Shaw Family Kitchen in the new wing was named after them.
J. Peter Zopfi, D.O., is general surgeon and Trauma Program Medical Director for NorthBay Health. He joined the Foundation Board of Directors in 2003 and was a member of the Foundation board before it went on hiatus.
Mark Villalon, M.D., is a cardiologist/interventional cardiologist for NorthBay Health. He joined NorthBay in 2019 and currently serves as Vice Chief of Staff. His wife, Rachel Villalon, M.D., has been an OB/GYN for NorthBay since 2014.
Keyo Tocchini is President and Chief Operation Officer of Before The Movie, a company that produces digital pre-shows that air on movie screens across the United States. Keyo and her husband, Corey, have been long-time supporters of NorthBay’s philanthropic efforts.
Sandy Person is Executive Director, Travis Community Consortium, Solano Economic Development Corporation. Previously she served as president of the Solano Economic Development Corporation. She has served as a board member and past chair of the NorthBay Health Advantage Board since 1998.
Konard Jones is CEO and President of NorthBay Health and serves on the board as an ex-officio member. Konard also sits on the corporation board, the healthcare group board, and the health advantage board.
