Strike Out Cancer at River Cats

For the fourth year, Genentech and the Sacramento River Cats will team up to help NorthBay Cancer Center patients.

Genentech has again promised to donate $100 for every strike-out a River Cats pitcher tosses during home games, up to $25,000, as part of its “Strike Out Cancer” event.

The season-long effort officially kicks off at a River Cats game on Saturday, June 28. Expect to see a large contingent of NorthBay and Genentech employees as they cheer on River Cats pitchers and the special guests who will be feted at the game.

The guests—NorthBay Cancer Center patients who received Genentech cancer-fighting drugs—will have their stories featured in a special pre-game video, and will be invited to throw out the first pitch.

More than $164,000 has been raised through the Strike Out Cancer collaboration over the past three years, and the donations have been used to purchase infusions chairs, a blanket warmer, and transportation services to bring patients to their treatments, among other things.
