Embracing Solano’s Hidden Treasures

Hello Solano County (and beyond)! This is my first opportunity to write an introduction in Wellspring as the new President and CEO of NorthBay Health. On behalf of myself and my wife, Sara, I would like to extend a great deal of gratitude to those who have welcomed our family to Solano County.

When interviewing for this position, we fell in love with the community — the rolling hills, the beautiful ranches and farms, and the sense of pride you hear from those who live and work in the heart of Northern California.

Healthcare has been my passion for nearly 20 years. Sara and I have a total of six children (all out of the house) and a German Shepherd (Bruin). Whatever my day job is, I am first and foremost a husband and father (and dog lover).

At the time of this publishing, I will have completed my first 100 days at NorthBay. During that time, I have had the pleasure of meeting many of our teams throughout the system in our hospitals, clinics and various facilities where we operate. Everywhere I go, I see the strength of our health system. I see the rigor, relevance and excellence of our clinical programs. I see the impact of our commitment, loyalty and engagement within our community. I see the competence and collaboration of our team members, as well as the compassion and caring that comprise the values we hold.

What inspires me each and every day is being part of this high-performing, mission-driven organization that is working to make a difference in the communities where we live and work.

Along the way, I have learned just how special this health system is to this area. NorthBay has an amazing team of physicians, clinicians and team members. The advanced level of services that we provide is really what makes us different. In fact, you will read about many of them in the orthopedics and neurospine articles in this edition. We provide treatments, procedures and surgeries in Solano County that would otherwise require our patients to travel outside the area at a significant cost, inconvenience and delay in care. Our physicians are educated and trained by many of the top educational institutions in the world.

I look forward to being actively engaged in the community, and if our paths should cross, please come up and say hello.

Sara and I love to hike the trails, explore the area, and of course wine tasting — if you have some favorite spots, let us know.

Your partner in building a better Solano County (and beyond),

Mark Behl
President and Chief Executive Officer
