Foundation Celebrates Legacies, Leaders

Heidi Campini

How will you leave your mark?

That was the question posed to nearly 300 local business and civic leaders, community organizers, volunteers and loyal supporters of NorthBay Healthcare Foundation during the Foundation’s “Celebration of Legacies” recognition program.

The Foundation kicked off the special evening, held Dec. 9 at Green Valley Administration Center, by making its first presentation of the “Spirit of Philanthropy” award to Heidi Campini.

The award recognized the commitment of Campini and her husband Jim Lawrenz, who passed away in 2013 after a battle with cancer. Both have been longtime supporters of NorthBay Healthcare, and Jim served as chairman of the Foundation board for several years.

The couple made a significant gift in 2015 to NorthBay Healthcare Foundation, the largest in its history.

The gathering was an opportunity to put a historical spotlight on Solano County leaders and visionaries who have helped guide and support NorthBay and its programs during the past six decades, and to thank those who left their mark in ways both big and small.

Among them were Roger and Corinne Vogel, who have fostered countless special needs babies; the late Barbara Lum, NorthBay Healthcare’s “Mother of Maternity Services,” whose family and friends established a NICU-supporting endowment in her name; and Bridgit Strachan, who fulfilled a promise to her mother to help establish cancer treatment services here in Solano County. Strachan, through her work as a NorthBay senior executive, ensured that no one would have to leave home to receive excellent cancer care.

A special presentation was made to NorthBay Healthcare by local metal sculptor Chad Glashoff, in memory of his mother. His creation, “Wounded Angel,” will be installed outside the NorthBay Hospice & Bereavement Program’s offices in Green Valley, in the Hospice Memorial Garden. It is Chad’s way to say thanks for the excellent care his mother received while in hospice, and for the bereavement services that have helped him heal.
